From Sacred Scripture

Genesis 1:26-27

Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.” So God created man in his own image; in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

Psalm 82:6

I say, “You are gods, sons of the Most High, all of you.”

The gospel of matthew 5:9

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.”

The gospel of mark 3:35

“Whoever does the will of God is m brother, and sister, and mother.”

1 john 3:2

Beloved, we are God’s children now; it does not yet appear what we shall be, but we know that when he appears we shall be lik ehim, for we shall see him as he is.

the letter of St. Paul to the Romans 8:14-23

For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the spirit of sonship. When we cry, “Abba! Father!” it is the Spirit himself bearing witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him. I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed in us. For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God; for the creation was subjected to futility, not of its own will but by the will of him who subjected it in hope; because creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay and obtain the glorious liberty of the children of God. We know that the whole creation has been groaning with labor pains together until now; and not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.

the second letter of st. peter 1:2-4

May grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, that through these you may escape from the corruption that is in the world because of passion, and become partakers in the divine nature.

From Popes

cardinal joseph ratzinger, “Three meditations on christmas”

“This exchange consists of God taking upon himself our human existence in order to bestow his divine existence upon us, of his choosing our nothingness in order to give us his plenitude.”

the gospel of john 1:1-14

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and Word was God. He was in the beginning with God; all things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. He came for testimony, to bear witness to the light, that all might believe through him. He was not the light, but came to bear witness to the light.

The true light that enlightens every man was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world knew him not. He came to his own home, and his own people received him not. But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God; who were born, not of blood nor the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
